In order to reduce undesired behaviors in a "mongolic" child. twelve years old, four techniques were applied: reinforcement of incom· patible behaviors (for díssobedíence of orders), restauration (for tbe behavior of throwing out objects), punishment (for beating the experímenter). and extinction (for the behavior of lying on the floor and shouting). The results were very effective. However, it is indispensable to take into consideration the generalization of therapeutic effects to the everyday environment of the child. It is important that the tteatment be carried out by different penans and in different plaees, and if poaaible, the relatives of the subject should be trained in 50ch a way that tbey leam to control bis behavior at home
