The Relationship Between Perceived Coaching Behaviors, Collective Efficacy and Goal Orientation among fencer players in Turkey

This paper aims to examine the perceived coaching behaviors, the goal orientation, the the relationship of the collective efficacy among fencer players in Turkey.In this research, the fencer players who played in the fencing teams in 2009-2010 league season and moreover, the ones who took parts in the teams participated into the Turkish National Championship were included. 141 fencer players who participated into the Turkish National Championship were included. In collecting the data, Leadership for Sport Scale-LSS, Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire-TEOSQ and Collective Efficacy Scale-CES were used. The data were calculated with The Analysis of the Descriptive Statistical Techiques and Pearson Correlation Analysis. Results revealed significant relationship for training and instruction(r=.240;p≤.01), democratic behavior (r=.179;p≤.05), social support (r=.657;p≤.01) and positive feedback (r=.191;p≤.05) with task orientation and autocratic (r=.186;p≤.05) social support (r=.210;p≤.05) with ego orientation. Becides, revealed significant relationship for training and instruction (r=.162; p≤.05), autocratic (r=.240; p≤.01), social support(r=.248; p≤.01), positive feedback (r=.248; p≤.01) and task orientation with collective efficacy.In conclusion; There is a relation between perceived coaching behaviors, collective efficacy and goal orientation among fencer players.
