Research: SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF PARACETAMOL AND LORNOXICAM BY RP-HPLC IN BULK AND TABLET FORMULATION

ABSTRACT
A simple, specific, accurate and precise reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of paracetamol and lornoxicam from tablets by reverse phase C18 column ODS HyperSil (250 mm, 4.6 mm, 5 μm). The sample was analyzed using methanol: water (85:15, v/v), as a mobile phase at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. and detection at 259 nm. The retention time for paracetamol and lornoxicam was found to be 3.30 min and 2.14 min, respectively. The method can be used for estimation of combination of these drugs in tablets. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines. The linearity of developed method was achieved in the range of 0.4-1.4 μg/mL for paracetamol and 0.6-1.6 μg/ mL for lornoxicam and recoveries from tablets were between 100.36% and 100.17%. Due to these attributes, the proposed method could be used for routine quality control analysis of these drugs in combined dosage forms.
