ABSTRACT
The transit of goods between France and Italy is made especially by means of trucks, along two alpine routes in narrow and deep valleys: Maurienne, leading to the Fréjus tunnel and Chamonix Valley leading to the Mont Blanc tunnel which, after the accident of March 1999, was closed and then partly reopened. In this paper we try, through several research programs, to study the spatiotemporal relationship between road traffic and NO2 air pollution in these two valleys.
