ABSTRACT
Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that has been suggested to be a prognostic factor in some cancer types. Also, CCL5 has been considered as a potential contributor to breast cancer progression. Using RT-PCR, this work examined the levels of IL-18, CCL5 and their receptors in patients with breast cancer (BCa) in Bahrain. In this study we compared tissues with and without metastasis to tissues from benign and normal breast. Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded breast tissues were obtained from 25 patients without metastasis, 20 patients with metastasis, 15 with benign tumor and 15 with normal breast tissues (total=75).
