ABSTRACT
Sensitivity of Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda microalgae to cipermetrine was evaluated comparing inhibition growing rate percentages respect to a control. Three replicates of each treatment and the free toxic controls were made. Cipermetrine concentrations used were in the range 6.25 to 100.00 ppm. Controls and treatments were incubated at the same temperature and illumination conditions. The test lasted 96 hours. Besides growth rate, generation time and inhibition percentage, recounts in chamber were made determining numbers of cells /mL of treatments and controls every 24 hours. Results were statistically analized by variance analysis and NOEC and LOEC values were determined by application of Dunnett test. EC50 (Effective Concentration 50) was determined by graphical interpolation. It was concluded that C. vulgaris and S. quadricauda present sensitivity to cipermetrine. It is recommended to evaluate the performance of these species in presence of other used plaguicides, due to the microalga efectiveness as ecotoxicity indicators.
