ABSTRACT
Lachemilla (Focke) Rydberg is one of the characteristic elements of the paramo and superparamo vegetation, it also occurs in the preparano and even in the edges of the High Andean forest, the genus has around 30 species proper of the mountains of Centro and South America. In Venezuela 18 species has been reported from the Andean states (Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo and Lara), as well as from the states of Zulia and Apure. It significance is mainly ecological, because in many of the paramo "sociations" have at least one species, some of them form large tapestries mono or pluri specific. The purpose of this paper is to made a first approach to the revision of the genus. We provide a more precise delimitation of the species and a key that allow the determination of the Venezuelan taxa
