ABSTRACT
The goal of the research is the analysis of the linguistic socialization of children from bilingual families, the outlining of some specific socialization models. The model used is the structured interview. The sample is formed of 40 mixed families from Timişoara, which have at least one preschooler going to a Hungarian kindergarden. The results revealed three linguistic socialization models specific to bilingual families: the linguistic socialization model, which produces simultaneous bilingualism – specific to families in which the children learn the languages in the same time according to the principle one person – one language; the linguistic socialization model, which produces primary successive bilingualism – specific to families in which the children learn the languages successively in the family; and the socialization model, which produces secondary successive bilingualism – specific to families in which children learn the languages successively: the first language within the family and the second language in an institution before reaching the school age.
