ABSTRACT
Karl Marx did not only realize, as Engels put it, that Hegel was "standing on his head," the economic and philosophic manuscripts introduced a concept of humanism with which he opposed Hegel's "false positivism." In the following, I outline the ways in which this spirit of a new humanism is articulated through the specter Marx invokes in the communist manifesto.
