ABSTRACT
Wireless sensor networks are a rapidlygrowing area for research and commercialdevelopment. Wireless sensor networks are used tomonitor a given field of interest for changes in theenvironment. They are very useful for military, environmental, and scientific applications. The mainfocus in wireless sensor networks is that of coveragesensors. Coverage in wireless sensor networks isusually defined as extent or degree to whichsomething is observed, analyzed, and reported.Thevarious existing techniques used in coverage arecoverage types, node types, deployment, energyconstraints, centralized and distributed algorithmand three dimensional coverage. Coverageapproaches are coverage with connectivity, probabilistic sensing, maximal support path ,maximal breach path and disjoint sets. Coverage isone of the main problem to achieve energy efficiencyof a wireless sensor network. This paper includes theliterature survey of all coverage problems.
