ABSTRACT
Celiac disease is a chronic enteropathy of small intestine, affecting people of all ages. It is describedas an autoimmune reaction to gluten from most cereals. The classic form of the disease is characterized by symptoms of malabsorption. However, due to a large variety of clinical and non-specific symptoms many cases of celiac disease remain undiagnosed and untreated. The symptoms of the disease occurring in the oral cavity can be divided into enamel erosion and changes in the mucous membranein the form of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS). Treatment consists of complete elimination of gluten from the diet. Otherwise it may lead to the development of lymphomas and the emergence of a refractory form of celiac disease.
