ABSTRACT
As a part of systematic investigation of synthesis and biological activity of several new 2-[2-{2-(substitutedphenyl)-4-oxo-1,3-thiazolidin}-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol]-imino-4-phenyl-1,3-thiazole, 5(a-n) and 2-[2-{2-(substitutedphenyl)-4-oxo-5-(sustitutedbenzyliden)-1,3-thiazolidin}-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol]-imino-4-phenyl-1,3-thiazole, 6(a-n) were synthesized from 2-{2-(substitutedbenzyliden)-imino-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol}-imino-4-phenyl-1,3-thiazole, 4(a-n) using 2-amino-4-phenyl-1, 3-thiazole as a starting material. The synthesized compounds have been screened in vitro for their antimicrobial activity against B. subtilis, E. coli and S. aureus bacteria and A. niger, A. flavus, and C. albicans fungi respectively. Some of the compounds displayed pronounced biological activity.
