ABSTRACT
When compared to other sources, some species of microalgae present a much larger production of oil. Therefore, they are capable of fulfilling the biodiesel demands to be added to petroleum derived diesel, and even to substitute petroleum diesel as fuel. The present work focuses on the viability of oil production from the algae Dunaliella salina, covering the evaluation of different techniques employed to achieve optimal cellular growth, until the separation of produced oil and biomass. At first the best cultivation conditions are pointed out and then, takes place the evaluation both of the biomass and the liquid oil-water phase.
