ABSTRACT
HVDC transmission is more effective andeconomically cheaper where bulk power is to betransmitted over long distance. Hence the surpluspower from a remote place can be exported to theneedy place at cheaper rate. The HVDC systemrequire only one transmission wire and the groundreturn or seawater can be used as an another line. The Lakshadweep Island is located at faraway placefrom the northeast part of India where the surpluspower is available. The seawater for return path isavailable. The diesel for D.G set is transported fromIndian mainland through ship where lot of economyis lost only for transportation. In this paper thetransmission of HVDC from Indian mainland toLakshadweep is analyzed at economically cheaperrate.
