ABSTRACT
Urban waste stored in warehouses may represent an energy source. Under bacteria action, organic compounds inwaste suffer an anaerobic reduction, resulting in a significant quantity of biogas that contains in average over 50% ofmethane gas with a substantial caloric power. These gases may be captured by a pipe network, filtered and dried orliquefied, and may represent the fuel for internal combustion engine actuate a power generator. Thus, electrical energycan be produced from waste – a clean and easy way to transport energy. All urban waste warehouses from Romaniamay become energy producers. The advantages are significant as unusable waste is used to obtain energy and to capturebiogas, whose greenhouse effect is much more powerful than the carbon dioxide.
