ABSTRACT
This paper deals about the wood anatomy of eight (8) species from Phyllanthoideae subfamily (Euphorbiaceae) in Venezuela. The species studied were Drypetes variabilis, Hieronyma alchorneoides, H. oblonga, Phyllanthus brasiliensis, P. nobilis, P. salviifolius, Piranhea longepedunculata, P. trifoliolata. The species studied can be included in two groups: one group with perforations plates exclusively simple (Phyllanthus brasiliensis, P. nobilis, P. salviifolius, Piranhea longepedunculata, P. trifoliolata) and another group with a combination of scalariforms and simple perforation plates (Drypetes variabilis, Hieronyma alchorneoides, H. oblonga). Perforated ray cells were found in P. salviifolius and this could the first report about it.
