ABSTRACT
The article tries to bring further support to the author's hypothesis (put forward by him in previous articles) that Dionysius Thrax' definition of comparatives, which modern interpreters tend to consider inadequate and faulty, was conceived in a conceptual frame derived from geometry and took as model the definition of "logos" and proportion, which was made paradigmatic in Euclid's Elements. To do so, the author examines the commentators and scholia to Dionysius' work, in order to show that the terms they employ in order to capture the semantic content of comparatives had already known a wide circulation as technical terms of philosophy and geometry.
