The main goal of this paper is presenting a description of the different phases, models and artifacts of a methodology proposed by the GIDIA group (Research and Development Group in Artificial Intelligence, by its acronyms in Spanish) of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Sede Medellín, for the development of multi-agent based simulation models. The proposed methodology is based on several of themost outstanding features of different approaches which are used for the development of this kind of projects, like the classic software engineering, the agent based software engineering, and the systems simulation. The result of this integration is a robust and well formalized methodology that can be applied in the construction of different types of simulation models (social, economic, politics, environmental, etc.). In order to illustrate the application of the proposed methodology a study case is presented in this paper. Such example consists of a single multiagent auction scenario and the initial phases of conceptualization, analysis and design are developed. Meanwhile, the latest phases of implementation, validation, result’s study and replication, are showed in a general way.
