ABSTRACT
A juvenile delinquent is a person who is typically under the age of 18 and commits an act that otherwise would have been charged as a crime if they were an adult. These juveniles have not been studied much. A few dermatoglyphic studies have been done on the juveniles. An attempt is made to present a pilot study on genotyping analysis of juveniles through autosomal STR typing. Short tandem repeat (STR) typing of autosomal markers with uorescence-based detection is now almost niversally used in forensic DNA laboratories worldwide. Saliva samples from 50 juveniles were collected; DNA was isolated by automated DNA extraction system 12 GC from PSS, Japan. Isolated DNA was quantied by agarose gel electrophoresis and DNA was genotyped by using multiplex PCR kit on 15 loci. Observed results and statistical analysis is presented in this communication. This is probably the rst report on the subject.
