ABSTRACT
The population corporal posture concern is currently increasing. Students are maintained at classrooms in uncomfortable and inadequate positions for long time in during days, weeks, months and years. As a consequence, these students can develop bad postures. This study was accomplished during November, 2005 period, in 11 schools of 7 cities, with 330 students of both sexes with 8-11 years, which there were performed chairs utilization per students. It was verified that more studies are necessary about the chairs measure to verify comparative data for that age group, however it seems to be inadequate for the students. Regarding the backpacks, was found that the load transported by the students is extremely high, and in this sense, both can contribute to the bad posture and possible development of deformities postures.
