ABSTRACT
Land tenure law is always a matter of concerns in French Polynesia. Its study cannot be restricted to its theoretical and epistemological effectiveness as the answer to many questions requires an understanding of a number of inter-related issues such as the influences of a foreign imported legal system (the civil law), its economic history and its socio-economic and political economy contexts. However the underlying principles can be theorised. The book aims to suggest a theoretical model that could increase the chances of success of any future land laws reforms in French Polynesia contributing also to the movement which is currently in France reshaping the theory of the unicity of patrimony and which borrows legal concepts from the Common law
