Fruit quality evaluation of some scab (Venturia inaequalis) resistant apple cultivars

Fruit quality of seven scab resistant varieties (Rebra, Rustic, Enterprise, Goldrush, Choupette® Dalinette, Ariwa, Topaz) was compared with non-resistant varieties (Golden Delicious). To assess external and internal fruit quality, the following was investigated: standard parameters (fruit weight, firmness, soluble solids, malic acid) and sensorial quality by panel tests (fruit size, shape and skin, firmness, juiciness, taste, flavour). The study confirmed that the resistant varieties were competitive in respect to fruit quality with the non-resistant varieties.
