ABSTRACT
Death is a part of life, concerns all of us and each generation has tried to find its own solution to this problem. Mourning is the process of psychological, social and somatic reaction and relatives’ death is a traumatic situation even if previously predicted. Mourning is the process which shouldn’t be experienced lonely but together with others from the family. But there are situations where family is not able to support. In such a case, a support group might be helpful. Experience included in the article refers to the support group for the patients in mourning. The group functioned in the Crisis Intervention Centre. Its character was open, participants were those who lost their parents, spouses, partners, grown-up children. The purpose of the group included the widely considered psychological care. Topics raised during the meetings were connected with psychoeducation including the bereavement, anthropology of mourning, changes in the relations and functioning after the bereavement. The condition for dealing with bereavement is getting through the whole process of mourning, which means total acceptance of the difficult event in one’s own life.
