The following ruminations show the contemporary research concept according to which the child’s birth constitutes the transition from two-person family structure intothree-person one: mother – father – child. The final conclusionsare connected with the changes in the traditional perception of the roles of a mother and father in Polish patriarchal society, which occur as a result of intensifying women’s emancipation and civilization transformations.
