The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of puzzleson preschoolers’ developmental areas. Two classes werechosen randomly among all the classes at an elementaryschool: one class (with 14 children) as the control group andone as the experimental group (again with 14 children). Thedata was collected by means of a ‘Demographic InformationForm’ and a ‘Preschool Developmental Evaluation Form’that measures children´s developmental characteristics.Since the children’s scores in ‘Preschool DevelopmentalEvaluation Form’ did not show normal distribution, MannWhitneyU Test was used to analyze the data. We could notfind any significant difference between the pretest andposttest mean scores in both groups. However, theexperimental group’s posttestmean scores were found tobe higher than mean posttest scores of children in thecontrol group. These results suggest that puzzles asinstructional materials can be effective in supportingchildren’s developmental areas.
