ABSTRACT
Nowadays, informatics technologies are developing fast and so many new concepts or terms are getting their place in daily life. Correspondingly, many problems occur. One of these problems is that terms of foreign origin starts be naturalized into Turkish. In this study, Turkish education preservice teachers’ adequateness levels of knowing the correspondences of informatics terms are analyzed in terms of sex, the ability to use computer, the levels of weekly computer use and having personal computer variables. The universe of the study in which the descriptive method was used is formed of 342 preservice teachers and the sample of the study is formed of 240 preservice teachers selected from this universe. The data was obtained with “Recognizing Turkish Correspondences of Informatics Terms” scale developed by the researchers. T-test and one-way ANOVA was used in the analysis of the obtained data. According to the results of the study, it is determined that sex and weekly computer use levels are not influent, but the ability to use computer levels and having personal computer variables are influent on the preservice teachers’ knowing Turkish correspondences of informatics terms.
