Novel Immobilized Tridentate Schiff Base Mo(VI) Catalyzed the Epoxidation of Olefins

New types of supported Shiff base Mo(Ⅵ) catalysts were obtained by anchoring tridentate Schiff base Mo(VI) on a series of immobilized Shiff base ligand which were obtained by chloromethyl, diamine modified zirconium poly(styrene-phenylvinyl phosphonate)-phosphate (ZPS-PVPA) reacted with aldehyde or ketone. All the prepared catalysts were characterized by FT-IR, UV-vis, XPS, SEM, TG and elemental analysis. The catalytic capabilities were investigated for the epoxidation of cyclooctene, styrene, α-methylstyrene with tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as oxidant. The results showed that the heterogeneous catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic efficiency. Surprisingly, up to 99% ee values were obtained when α-methylstyrene was chosen as substrate in this oxidant system. Furthermore, these catalysts were easily separated and reused ten times without significant loss of activities.
