This document presents the implementation and the performance evaluation of several algorithms proposed for the detection of QRS complexes. Also, the optimization of the algorithms is made maximizing the performance measures of sensitivity and precision. An special emphasis is made for an hybrid algorithm based on linear filtering, Hilbert transform and adaptive threshold; the performance of this algorithm is compared with respect to others based on the amplitude and derivatives of the signal, also it is compared with other methodbased on wavelet transform. The tests are performed with the standard databases MIT-Arrhythmia and European ST-T in order to evaluate the results obtained from the implemented methods in this document with respect to the results obtained with other proposed methods. As a result, the algorithms based on wavelet transform, digital filters and hybrid are the methods that show the best performance.
