This article provides a brief summary of the texts included in the current issue of HIb Revista de Historia Iberoamericana and identifies punts of dialogue between them and some recently published studies that represent important tendencies within the history of food. It emphasizes that since material and social dynamics intersect in food its study allows for innovative interpretations of established topics while opening the panorama to new historical subjects.
