ABSTRACT
The authors report the case of a fetus with assimetric cerebellar lobes and an adjacent hyperechogenic mass detected on second trimester ultrasound. A cerebellar hemorrhage was suspected and the additional diagnoses of microcephaly, intrauterine grow restriction and oligoamnios were established, without the presence of other structural abnormalities. The cerebellar anomaly was not confirmed by fetal magnetic resonance imaging, but the couple decided to terminate the pregnancy at 27 weeks, based on the diagnoses of microcefaly and severe intrauterine restriction. Post-mortem examination confirmed the ultrasound findings.
