The article aims to describe the Nova Escola Magazine and some of his staff about the educational thematizations. In addition, disclose the results of a survey conducted at the bank of theses and dissertations of the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) about the academic research that between 2001 and 2010, took it as a motto, given its strong appeal in teacher education. The data indicate that the magazine is the subject of 46 studies, including masters and doctoral work, with a predominance of the former. The most searched topics, second reading of abstracts available in the portal Capes, refer to the journal represents how teacher identities, interfaces between language, discourse and ideological manipulation, and research to study the positioning of the Nova Escola on practices teaching aimed at teaching school subjects. Some issues addressed by the magazine often have been neglected for dissertations and theses, because they were not even found research on the conceptions of the journal for inclusive schools and literacy, among others. Indicates, therefore, the existence of gaps in the study of interfaces between education and educational media.
