ABSTRACT
The analysis of salary gaps has been the subject of many studies from the different trends that have marked labour economics. Salary gaps have been attributed to differences among employees themselves (experience, education, etc.) or the company structure or environment (strategy, organisation, institutions, technological changes, etc.). This article analyses salary gaps in the context of the knowledge economy. With data from the salary structure survey produced by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), we can see a positive link with the levels of knowledge in a company's activities and the use of ICT by employees. Likewise, greater salary gaps are seen between men and women in companies with lower levels of knowledge.
