Simultaneous Estimation and Validation of Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin in Tablet Dosage form: hydrotropic approach

An ultraviolet (UV) Spectrophotometric method was developed and validated for quantitative determination of Gabapentin (GBP) and Methylcobalamin (MC) in combined dosage form. Spectrophotometric methods have been developed for simultaneous estimation of Simultaneous equation method, Absorbance ratio method and Derivative Spectrophotometry Method .in tablet dosage form using 5.0M 5.0M Sodium benzoate, as a hydrotropic agent. The proposed method is based on simultaneous equation method. The absorption maxima (λmax) of Gabapentin (GBP) and Methylcobalamin (MC) were 313nm and 334 nm respectively. The calibration curve were prepared the proposed method obeys Beers law in concentration range 5-35 µg/ml and 5-40 µg/ml for Gabapentin(GBP) and Methylcobalamin(MC) respectively with correlation coefficients were found to be 0.9993 and 0.9989 respectively. The method was contempted using known concentration of drug and percentage recovery was found in the range of 99.8 % to 100.33%. Analyzing the combination in tablet dosage form, recovery studies showed a good agreement in the assay of results. The proposed method is simple, precise, accurate and can be employed for routine analysis of Gabapentin(GBP) and Methylcobalamin(MC) in tablet dosage form.
