The article deals with the assessment of intellectual potential of a company. The chosen research topic is relevant due to the differences between modern theoretical achievements and their practical application in the assessment of intellectual potential of a company so that this process requires clarification and justification of its nature and stages. This discrepancy proves the main goal, i.e. to study the phases of the evaluation process of the intellectual potential of a company and clarify their composition based on generalization and systematization of theoretical and methodological approaches.Practical problems in the assessment of intellectual potential of an enterprise are complex and characterized by the absence of a single defined methodology and divergence of experts’ opinions. It has been noted that the existing approaches that define the process of assessing the intellectual potential of a company are limited. To study the sequence and content of the stages of the assessment of intellectual potential of a company the analysis of authors’ approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of equity capital, cycle assessment methodology, forecasting and evaluating the estimated value of the business, evaluating the competitive advantages of firms has been used.Based on the critical analysis of existing evaluation methods the sequence of estimating the intellectual potential of a company has been offered. It includes the following four steps: identification of the problem formation and use of intellectual potential and their specification, inducing the identification of an enterprise, defining the object, date and purpose of evaluation, preparation for the assessment of intellectual potential, which includes the definition of sources of information, forming the groups of appraising experts, drafting tasks and schedule estimates, preparing and signing the assessment contracts, data collection and calculation of indicators that can accommodate the formation of a system of indicators, data collection and arrangement, indexes calculation and defining the effective use of intellectual capacity and developing the measures on its improvement. The justified process of intellectual capacity evaluation is proposed to use to determine its fair value, which has to become the basis for the development of business strategy and provide an opportunity to identify alternative approaches and ways to improve the efficiency of human, structural, consumer capital and intellectual capacity in general.
